Six years ago, at the infancy of my professional career I was going through a crisis. I was not not sure which direction my bondage was going. Looking for inspiration I came across a video that challenged the foundations of what I believed bondage needed to be. After some research I discovered that the kinbakushi in the video was called Akira Naka. I started to watch obsessively all the videos from him that I could find; I wanted to tie like him, I wanted my bondage to look like his. Of course I had no idea of how to tie his patterns, so I attempted to emulate the same emotional reactions and moods.

A year later, in 2013, I met Naka Sensei in person during a festival in Moscow. Our connection was instantaneous despite the language barrier. That encounter changed my bondage and my whole life. I devoted myself to learning his style and one year later I started visiting him in Tokyo to learn directly from him. He made me his Ichiban Deshi (primary disciple). He gave me the name 利 狩 人

Naka Sensei became very soon more than a teacher for me; he became a mentor, a friend, family. He allowed me to build a successful career and helped me through my hard times. He made many of my dreams come true like performing at Nawa Naka Kai or at Maniac Festival in Tokyo. He introduced me to Sugiura Norio Sensei, the legend of bondage photography, and I was lucky enough to establish a good relationship with him.
I owe Naka Sensei a lot.

Being the Ichiban Deshi of such a legend is no easy task, there is honour and pride certainly, but also a great responsibility to remain faithful to his teachings. I try to keep up with Naka Sensei's high standards, to promote the human values he taught me, in bondage and in life. I try to make the style live and evolve and spread the love for it throughout the world.

I created this book to celebrate 5 years of meeting Naka Akira Sensei.

I am not a photographer but I decided to shoot the images myself as the use of a photographer would have showed their vision and not mine. I did not want to simply imitate the work of the great masters, have people say “great work, it looks like the one of XXX”. Therefore I avoided using their lighting schemes and all the props that are so typical of Japanese bondage photography. I used one simple light on a side, not to be moved around, allowing me to concentrate just on the tying. I also avoided Japanese clothes on the non Japanese models. There was no discussion about what the models would wear, they all wore what they felt most comfortable or creative in because I wanted to show their individuality and their own innovative input to this book.

Post-work has been minimal. I wanted the rope-work to be about the models and to be real, so no image is posed. I wanted to have that recognizable Naka Style feeling and yet give the rope a clear personal nuance.

I followed no plan in creating the ties, I let the models inspire me. Some rope came up messy, some neat, some erotic, some sadistic and some very cuddling. I tried to tie with an empty mind, one rope at the time, enjoying the process, to celebrate each model's uniqueness and beauty.

The result is in these pages, that celebrate five years of having met my teacher and friend. I felt that it was time to document how far along in my rope journey I have come, not a beginning or an end, rather a period of reflection.

Naka Ryu has become more and more popular in Europe in the few last years. As the demand for education grew higher, this generated many people willing to offer to teach it. Unluckily, most people are not authorized to do so.

It happens very often that when reading educator's profiles and curriculum I see stuff like, "I have studied with Naka Akira". But truth is that most of these people mean they had just a few hours of class or workshop with the Master. Some did not even have this, have never met him, or have had few hours of class with someone else that had a few hours of class himself with the Sensei. Yet they said they were teaching Naka Ryu. Some even write they are his disciples (rather than merely students).

This is ridiculous, dangerous, and not honest. To say you studied with someone or that you are someones student takes more than a 5h workshop. Authorized Naka Ryu educators are few and you should choose well. We think you should choose us, and this is why:

1) Wildties is not only an authorized Naka Ryu educator, but the first one. He is Naka Akira's official deshi.  The masters consideration for him is such that he was granted to perform twice as a rigger at Naka Nawa Kai, once in a duo session with the Sensei.

2) We were the first to dedicate completely and only to this style, therefore we might say without error that our own experience is the most complete one now available in the western market.

Quite often models ask me how do I deal with pain.

First of all, let me remind that good semenawa favors the experimentation of suffering, not pain.

I’m not a masochist. Never been.

Outside a session in which I feel submitted, I hardly can manage painful stimuli.

So what are the tools, the techniques, I personally use to deal with the painful sensations, with progressive suffering, and to turn them into something I can space for?

1. Breathing
I breathe slow and deep, when possible, slow and extended, when my breathing capacity is limited from the tie. Breathing has an immediate natural effect on the perception of pain, helps me relaxing, detaching, and getting rid of negative feelings.

2. Surrendering
I do not fight and resist to the discomfort: I follow it. The moment my brain and my body let go, the bliss begins.

3. Offering
I let my brain focus on the fact that the suffering I am living is an offer to my Top/Rigger at that moment. I love managing, as I live that act like an offer to him. I give him the time to admire me in suffering.

4. Sensory splitting
I found I apply this quite often. It’s a technique that involves dividing the sensation (pain, burning, pins and needles) into separate parts. For example, when a shoulder is in pain for a hard Takate Kote, and this kind of feeling is identifiable as “hot”, I just focus just on the sensation of the heat and not on the hurting.

5. Mental analgesia
This is really nice. It works like that: you have to imagine a strong pain killer drug, like morphine, entering into the painful area. What I personally do, is imagining my brain while producing endorphins. As I know that this is happening, and that those endorphins are having effect in a short time, I just wait for them to flow.

All of them are behaviors I experimented, and studying around, I even found a word for some of them. (You can read for further reference this list of techniques used to control chronic pain)

Situated in the beautiful valleys and hills of Umbria, Italy; our luxury villa is the perfect location for such an exclusiveevent. Shot in four days different setting, cold cellar, luxury room and japanese room,  with superb lights and suggestive soundtrack, it’s a full story with a great plot that will compose a three hours final movie, of which this is the first part.

The movie tells the story of a rich Lady, La Poupée Noire of the title, interpreted by a mysterious Charly The Doll, that, somehow bored and searching for a new thrill, gets intrigued by the services of a very peculiar organization and manages to have a submissive (Redsabbath) captured  and offered at her mercy for some time.

The Lady invites at her place the Kinbakushi (Riccardo Wildties) to help her bend Redsabbath more and more to the realization of her games and her fantasies.

Through several scenes of torture and rope sessions, from a chair tie, to a full bamboo transition in Kimono, to an Hashira Shibari, Redsabbath progressively starts loving the feelings lived through this experience, and eventually surrendering  to the constrictive ties and the torment, up to a surprise ending..

High end 1 on 1 tuition at a bargain price? Now it is possible!

After a few trials to get the right formula, Kinbaku LuXuria is glad to officially announce the new Intensive Private Weekends.

Where will it take place? At our place, a few kilometers from Rome.  Do not worry, transport by car to and from the airport is included!

A small but clean and comfortable apartment in which you will  have your own room, provided with heating, air conditioning, a big double bed, wifi, and all the comforts you might need.

The apartment is provided with a fireplace, so cozy to sit in front of it, drinking wine and relaxing after class.

The working space is a 2,20 mt by 2,20 mt portal frame with a solid big diameter bamboo. Soon a Hashira will also be available as well as a more three dimensional working space. Japanese rope can be rented on the spot, for a little extra, if you want to travel light.

Obviously mats and carpets will make it more comfortable for the bottoms.

Your breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as snacks will be provided by us, some good Italian cooking made by Wildties himself (and believe us he cooks as well as he ties).

All beverages will be included also.

You will be able to browse through our collection of Japanese bondage books, images and videos.

Class will be intensive, 5 hours a day, divided between morning, afternoon and evening, allowing the models very long breaks to relax and recover. It will be tailored on the needs and skills of the student and the amount of provided information will be huge.

Pauses and moments of relax will be a great time to talk about Kinbaku, about our travels and experiences, to learn even more and really be floating in a Kinbaku atmosphere.

Why?

In the last two years we have been travelling a lot around Europe doing classes and workshops. Some of our students have loved our style and or pedagogy so much that they are always eager to have more. Unluckily travelling abroad for private class is very expensive and not always practical.

Also often during workshops the level of participants is very  varied, with a lot of beginners and therefore we cannot offer very advanced topics. This penalizes our most advanced students.

For this reason we had more and more requests, during the last period, for a Masterclass and we decided to accept the challenge.

This Masterclass offers intensive training, advanced topics and will be attended only by confirmed riggers. The best way to have a full immersion in our system.

When, where?

8 to 12 October 2014 in Prague.

We chose Prague because it’s a perfect city for a Masterclass. First of all the currency change is very favorable to people from the Euro zone. This means that food and other expenses are very convenient. In other cities of Europe 5 days of hotel, food and transport can cost thousands of Euros.   In Prague this will be very cheap.

Also Prague is a touristic city, there are low cost flights from most European cities at convenient rates and plenty of small cheap hotels.

The metro system is clean, fast and cheap, and our venue is a just 400mt from a metro station, so no problem moving from and to the city center or your hotel.

And do not forget Prague is beautiful, so well worth a visit!

How much?

The price for the 5 days is 500 Euros. Considering that our workshops of 4 hours range between 120 and 140 euros per couple, and that our private tuition costs 60 Euro per hour the math is easy…  7 hours a day of intensive advanced teaching for 100 Euros. Bargain!

And as mention above we have chosen a city that will make your travel and stay affordable.

What can you expect to learn?

As our followers know Wildties has developed his own personal style. His rope is directly inspired from Naka Ryu, with a little bit more dynamism and transitions that come from his previous styles. Also communication and body handling are done in a very personal way that made his shows so appreciated throughout Europe. Also he is known for the excellent aesthetics, so powerful and traditional in look, that have granted him compliments from more than one Japanese master.

All this is what we call the LuXuria system, and this Masterclass is an intensive journey in our way of tying. We will cover all the technical part of some of the most traditional suspensions as well of some of our own personal ones. Floorwork in Semenawa style will not be neglected as well as some of the most extreme techniques for rope torture.

Aesthetics is so important for us that a part of everyday work will be focus on this subject. Through the use of multimedia as videos and pictures, we will analyze all the main concepts of Japanese rope aesthetics.

One of our main prides is that we teach people how to play and have fun and kinky sex through rope. This is why we will talk and teach extensively our communication and body handling techniques.

Every subject will be covered in a much deeper way that in usual workshops. The workshop is entirely in English but you can expect some translation in Czech, French or Italian when needed.

Requirements for riggers/models?

In order to participate you must be a confirmed rigger. If we do not know you personally we require you to send us a link to an uncut video featuring a full suspension. This is a very advanced class and it does not fit everybody. Attending without the necessary basis would slow down other participants as well as being dangerous for your model.

Models too need to be experienced. They must be fit and with a good experience in suspension. We will do some very tough Semenawa rope work and especially we will do lots of hours a day of training. Please consider well you experience before asking to participate.

Only 10 places are available, and, at the moment of issuing this document, 5 are already gone. So if you are interested hurry up and book your Kinbaku LuXuria Masterclass.

How is the venue?

The venue is incredibly well equipped. Unlike many workshops were single suspension points are provided, this venue will have plenty of bamboo beams, which fits better our style. There are also vertical post that we will use to tie some very traditional Japanese ties that very rarely we can show elsewhere due to the lack of this architectural feature.

The space is big, everybody will work comfortably.

We will have a projector for all the multimedia contents.

The venue is 400 mt from a metro station.

All info on how to get to the venue will be given privately to participant.

What to bring?

To take full benefit from our masterclass you should bring at least 10 pieces of rope. Jute is preferred to hemp. Diameter between 5 and 6mm. Length can vary between 7 and 8 meters though our recommendation (for average size models) is around 7,30 mt. Loose or medium lay rope fits better our style, please avoid super tight layed double ply rope.  Bring rope that you already broke in, we will tie a lot and it must be easy on your hands and on the model.

Safety sheers or rescue hook. Mandatory.

While you can bring gear like rings and karabiners it will not be used. We will tie in our own style so either on bamboo, beams, posts or on rope rigging points.

A mat if you want to be comfortable on floorwork. We will not provide the because we never use them.

Comfortable clothes for tops and bottoms.

After the great success of our cooperation with Wykd Dave and Clover we decided to repeat the experience with another great bondage couple Jack Whipper and Zahara (http://www.jackandzahara.co.uk/). Not only two incredible bondage artists but two amazing friends. And this experience also did turn out to be a great success! A super intensive day of rope, feelings, shows and fun! People from all over Italy, from France, Czech Rep., Holland… WOW!

Day started early, people started gathering at the venue around 9,30 and by 10 Jack was already holding his first class. "the moment of Intention" is a brilliant class that I had a chance to follow in Moscow. But Jack and Zahara have been improving it and the one they held in Rome was simply amazing. I might say one of the best bondage class I ever attended. Also it was the perfect introduction for the next class, my Semenawa class. The two just melted one in the other in such a perfect way. Both classes led the models to have so many strong feelings that tears and runny noses where everywhere.

The two classes took all the morning and at lunch break we had a beautiful surprise. Submotatio, official photographer and owner of the venue, prepared pasta, sandwiches and drinks for all the participants.  He is an awesome guy and part of the success of our roman events is indeed because of him.

Afternoon was dedicated to "the Art of Untying" by Jack and my "Bondage for Sex". Both were very good classes and feedback was great. I really love to work with Jack. We integrate perfectly and we melt our teachings in a very interesting way. We focused almost all our classes on feelings and it came out one of the greatest intensive shibari day that I honestly ever saw.

Around 6pm we had a long break and Jack and I had the pleasure of tying all the models that wanted to experiment our ropes, and damn it they were quite a few lol! So by the time shows had to start we had on our backs a full day of teaching and a few sessions each (not to mention the day before we walked for 7 hours around Rome under the sun). But well its a hard job but someone must do it and damn we did it well.

Many other people joined for the shows including a few vanilla girls.

I was first on stage. I kept very traditional (as in all my last shows) and tried to tie in an as pure as possible Naka Ryu. I performed my favorite suspension and i must say Redsabbath shocked even me with her flexibility, that day beyond usual. My good old bastinado and some humiliation to make her cry beautifully. I kept it simple and focused on her expressions and on the beauty of her suffering. I definitely have found what really suits me.

Jack and Zahara did an awesome show as usual. So different from everybody else. Sexy, harsh, beautiful, funny, the rope they share is always full of so many different shades. Zahara was simply pure eye candy when tied up, her beauty far above most other models. And Jack's skill, flow and inventive make him for sure a world class rigger. It was a great surprise for me to seed that during the day I had converted Jack to Takatekote to the point he used it in show. Guess he will not go back to Gote easily… This couple is really huge and i would make no justice trying to describe their show. Luckily pics and videos are to come soon. If you never saw the do it, you will love them.

Day ended very late, in a great Italian restaurant, enjoying food and friendship. A hard long day but plenty of emotions, feelings, love and rope.

This is our report from Moscow Knot 2013, the first edition of what has been probably one of the greatest rope event of this year, featuring on stage some incredible artists including Naka Akira for the first time performing out of Japan.
We really don’t know where to start from to describe all the emotions of this incredible long weekend.
The Moscow Knot was organized by Vlada, Falco and Torquemada. Three splendid and friendly guys that took very good care of all the guests during the three days of the Festival.

We arrived quite late in the night before the beginning of the Festival and slept only few hours, and when we went for breakfast.. our first shocking surprise was finding Naka Akira and Iroha Shizuki there together with some of our best friends.
Well, let us underline that Naka San had been a very important turning point for our interpretation of Kinbaku. Through his videos we really drastically changed our way to see, to feel, to live the ropes. So it was a very big emotion getting to know him and his wonderful model Iroha.
At breakfast we also met all our friends Wykd Dave, Clover, Jack Whipper, Zahara, Nawakiri Shin, Nancy Wang so a very nice friendly atmosphere was immediately created, we felt like children in a school trip!

The three days schedule saw everyday some workshops in late morning and afternoon, and then the night shows starting approximately at 6.30 pm that took all the evening. The venue was a big Moscow club, the Monaclub, that was suitably rearranged to host all the activities.

Dmitry Torquemada was a big friend and “guardian angel” for all of us, he took good care, provided everything we needed, smiled, and offered some Vodka .

The first day we attended Jack Whipper and Zahara workshop on The Moment of Intention, a very good practical lesson that gave some very interesting inputs on the value of controlling from the very beginning, even with the shortest piece of rope you could ever imagine.
We joined Wykd Dave and Clover workshop on Ichinawa too, that we already had the chance to live in the past, but you never have enough of experimenting how breathing together can be a crucial starting point to share before ropes.

Friday night started already with some great performers. Shin went on stage first and left everybody breathless with a great show made of theater and good ropes. His energy is amazing and he is able to mix humor, drama, flow and good rope all in one show.
Than it was our turn. We were freaking out literally, as we thought we were going to perform in front of our idol Naka San, not to say we are clearly feeding on his style lately. We did a show in a very slow pace, concentrating on rope and feelings. Only two suspensions, a split and the one with a leg up high that we love so much lately (that Naka San also performed on his second show). Despite the tension we did well and we received so many compliments including the ones of Naka san himself that appreciated very much our approach to rope. Video of first show can be watched here.

Night went on with performances by Tougo and Tetsubishi that showed some very interesting stuff. Wykd Dave and Clover went on stage around 22h and needless to say they did an incredible show as usual. Flow, connection, good rope torture, genuine feelings. They are one of our favorite bondage couples and they are always a great inspiration.

Medved, Yeger and Inkognito closed the night, showing that the level of Russian riggers is increasing very fast. The night ended with some free rope play in the workshop area, where Wildties had the chance to tie some beautiful Russian girls. Seems Kinbaku LuXuria new style has more and more appeal on young ladies…

The second day started in the early afternoon with Naka Akira workshop.
It was Naka San’s first workshop ever with a “big” audience and the class was lead through demonstrations and very practical suggestions. It was a Master-class intense like a show, because he showed the “backstage” of some of his most famous ties and suspensions, with very few explanations like in the typical Japanese way of teaching, a joy for the heart and for the eyes. Who wanted to learn knots, reasons for doing this or that, rope placements, was deceived. If we had to say the most precious teaching we had in this workshop we would indeed say: deepness.

Saturday night featured Wykd Dave and Clover again on the stage, in a very intense show that as usual gave us shivers. We now have seen Dave and Clover so many times performing, but it’s always a new incredible emotion. The performance was based on stressful positions and transitions, always so beautiful to see them together sharing that intensity.
Then it was Xanoo, in a simple yet beautiful transition show.

The show from Naka Akira and Iroha Shizuki was a stunning, not easily forgettable experience for our minds and our hearts. Naka San started tying on the floor, creating a strong connection with the model, and used so well timimg. He tied her, and then he looked at her beauty in sufferance. He brought on stage his most famous suspension, very challenging for the model and aesthetically so impactful! And useless to say.. that Iroha expressions, drooling in pain were hot and amazing. One suspension, no transitions, no fancy hand movements, no theatrical rope handling… still, this was the best Kinbaku show of our lives. Seeing him live definitively convinced us that we made a good choice in trying to follow his steps in this very traditional style of tying.

Then it was our turn, and you can only imagine how scared we were, having to go on stage right after one the greatest Masters! We were asking ourselves how could we possibly convey something to the public after what they just had seen. Even more freaking, was that we wanted to show our interpretation of another of Naka San’s classics, the leg lacing. We stepped on stage and were very nervous, but breathing together while tying the TK, (as Dave taught us), helped us relaxing and connecting. Even this time, the warm compliments of the Master and his appreciation for our style, that, though clearly inspired to his work, has its own personality, filled our hearts with joy and made us feel very satisfied with what we did. And guess what… Naka San gave us two beautiful presents, a tenugui and a fundoshi!!

We had the chance to enjoy the show by Boris Mosafir, who is progressing incredibly fast and who is one of the best riggers in Russia at the moment.
Stefano Laforgia from Italy did a good show with the beautiful Ishemia, quite sadistic as usual for him.

Then it was time for the first international show from Jack Whipper and Zahara, they very well welcomed from Russian audience. Their style is unique, a lot of takedown, and sensual tension between them! They offered a show focused on moments, on tying what the body asks at that time, with sense of humor, dynamism and unexpected details. We love this couple so much that we decided to do an event in Rome with them. Date is 13th July 2013, and soon on this blog all the details. Vlada and Falco to close the second night, with one of their famous sadistic and shocking performances, always so creative and extreme on the stage. Vlada can really do everything to that guy, so beautiful in ropes and incredibly able to manage pain! He’s flexible like a mutant, and resistant as an android.

At the end of the evening we had the opportunity to have some extended time on hair tying and vertical pole tying with Naka Akira and Iroha Shizuki: Naka San thought that the afternoon workshop was too short so he wanted to spend some time more together with his students. We were evidently not tired enough so we tried immediately what Naka San showed us on the vertical pole (one very famous suspension you can appreciate in his videos), and a new Takate Kote hands positioning that he had showed before, underlining the importance of crossing hands high in the back (real Takate Kote rather than Gote) leaving hands visible so that you can appreciate the feelings that they express, and they can “talk” to the Rigger.
Naka San was so pleased with the results that he even took pictures, and he was sharing them on Facebook few days later.
Redsabbath was spacing and enjoying so much that she managed a very stressful position and not yet tired, she was tied again to a chair. At that time Naka San approached asking Wildties if he could show him something. Of course Wildties was super happy to be corrected from Naka San, and was expecting some great revelation on technique, but Naka San actually showed him how to make a crotch rope vibrate in a very sensual way. Too bad for Redsabbath she was blindfolded and could not appreciate the fact that it was the Master himself moving her crotch rope.

On third day, we run a workshop on Semenawa in the early afternoon, with a nice class of 5 couples plus all of our friends. Workshop focused on the importance of timing in Semenawa, on how to read the body in order to tie what the model needs rather than what the Rigger wants, and how to create beautiful slow suffering rather than pain. In rope shows nowadays we see more beautiful spacing or simple rope pain, while Japanese bondage should create beautiful suffering as Naka San demonstrated in his two shows.

The second performance from Naka Akira and Iroha Shizuki was again a traditional one, based on few passages kept for a long time, effective lines, and showing the progressive adaptation of the body to discomfort and eroticization of pain. If we try to describe the feeling we had about the show, we’ll end with repeating the words we already spent about the first show. What is sure, is that once again we realized we have to rethink all our bondage.

A number of other performance were held, all of them high quality, including the ones of Mosafir, Stefano Laforgia, Vlada and Falco, Exmelin, Yeger and Xanoo.

Shin and Nancy went on stage with a new show, a very poetic story realized with creativity and incredible stamina. They are not only Kinbaku performers, they are really accomplices and they can create a piece of theatre every time they go on stage!
Despite being very late, and having the last show, Jack and Zahara offered one of the most beautiful shows we’ve ever seen. It was a very hot, intimate show, we felt like watching from the keyhole a loving couple making love through ropes. Jack has the ability to control perfectly Zahara, and she dances like nobody in his ropes.

In the after party, Wildties had a queue of girls that wanted to be tied. It is probably because of our rough but sensual and sexual style, that our Bondage has such a strong appeal on women. Poor Wildties tied so much that we had blues all over his fingers that night. It’s a hard job but somebody has to do it!

At four in the morning, Vlada, Falco, Torquemada and his beautiful girlfriend Olga brought us for a short tour in Moscow by night… It was wonderful to visit the Red Square and some breathtaking views of the city all together.
These memories will stay forever in our hearts.
It was a great experience, performing, learning, exchanging, and having the great chance to live all this with a group of friends that share our same passion about Kinbaku, and can rejoice in each other's successes without jealousy but in a spirit of growth and true reciprocal exchange.

"How little I knew about shibari."
So I said to myself when I listened to Hedwig's course last year in London. So I said to myself again this year. Every time I meet my European friends, I am saddened by realising how little I knew, but also thrilled by how much there is to learn.
Moscow Knot: International Bondage Party is organised by Vlada, Falco, and Torquemada. A tree-day festival with 8 pairs of local performers and 8 pairs of foreign performers, workshop, interview, and party, is a huge event, especially for a team who organises an international event for the first time.
The spotlight of the event is undoubtedly on Naka Akira. Under influence of Nureki Chimuo, he practices, in my opinion, one of the older style of shibari. He uses no carabiners, and instead spontaneously ties attachment points on a bamboo pole. He does not connect ropes, but always start from a new point after finishing using one rope. But how do we learn to understand and appreciate such a style?
The seme-nawa course offered by Riccardo Wildties, a big fan of Naka-san, turned out to be a fitting introduction — the choices of not using certain techniques are in fact closely tied with the aesthetics of Naka-style. Tying to a bamboo allows for flexibility, while not connecting ropes allows the model, the rigger, and the audience, to pause between breaks.
Naka-san's performances are usually slow but intense. He would completely apply one rope to the model's body, step back, observe the model in agony, before applying the next rope to push her a bit further. In my opinion, it is like a spanking session that starts in a slow pace and gradually intensifies to stimulate endorphin — it turn out that ropes and whips do share something in common. Aren't we used to say when we teach spanking that there is not one but many kinds of "pain"? In the course, Riccardo pinched Redsabbath out of blue and made her shouted "ouch!" she shouted. he commented: "It hurts, but it's not beautiful. What we want is 'beautiful suffering.'" He then started tying Redsabbath, one ope after another, as we watch her gradually bloomed like a flower. "Now, this is beautiful." Riccardo said.
That's the moment when I again said to myself: how little did I know about shibari.
Naka-san's performance appears to be technically as simple as a performance can be. Yet it is so touching that the audience could not help sobbing. Dave was very moved by the performance. "How much confidence does it take to do something so simple, and yet so beautiful? If I keep tying for ten more years, no, if I can still tie after ten years, can I tie so well?"
That night Dave talked to me a lot. From shibari, to art, and to life. Then he paused, "I'm sorry. I am talking too much."
Months ago Stefano made the same apology to me after talking about ropes. I saw the same thing in their eyes: the kind of passion in the eyes of those who talking about something they deeply love. My response was the same: I thanked them, for teaching me so much.
Each time I talked to Dave, I feel enlightened. And each time I saw Jack and Zahara on stage, I feel joy. Since the first time I saw them on stage, they have always surprised me with different ways they can perform, yet show the same love and intimacy. With their permission, I taped their last performance in Moscow Knot to bring back to Taiwan, which can be very good tutorial.
I am happy among these friends, who share the same love and passion. How lucky I am to be with these wonderful people."
